The Sins of Šeḫa River Land

Translation

Güterbock, Perspectives #28, 217-222.

§1

[Thusly Tabarna, Tudḫaliya (IV), Gre]at [King]: Again, for a second time(?), The River Šeḫa Land sinned. [They said(?), "Formerly(?), the great(?)-gr]andfather of My Sun did not conquer us by means of the weapon. [And when the grandfather of My Sun] conquered the Arzawan lands, [he did not conquer] us by means of the weapon. [He would have conquered] us, but we erased(?) the sin for him."

§2

[Subsequently(?) Mr. Tarḫuna-radu] became hostile. He relied upon the King of Aḫḫiyawa. He took refuge on [Eagle Peak]. I, the Great King, set out, and [. . . . .] I captured Eagle Peak, and I brought (home) 500 (teams of?) horses and [. . . . troops]. I transferred Mr. Tarḫuna-radu, along with his wives, [children, goods(?), etc.], and I brought him to the city Arinna, the city of the Sun Goddess.

§3

[Even Ḫattušili, Tab]arna, Great King, did not go to the land. But I made [Mr. X], seed of Mu[wa-walwi king in Šeḫa River Land], and for him [I imposed x-number of] (teams of) horses [and x-number of troops as the obligation.]
